SRE is hard, to make it less crunchy there are very rich tools to benefit from. A new one recently I realised recently is called UptimeRobot. Not just the configuration is simple, it starts delivering you notifications right after you setup the sites. Inside the dashboard, you can see the states of the pages, incidents, their resolve status like resolution time, root cause duration etc. What is also smooth is the API integration. Depending on your favourite tool, it is straightforward to set UptimeRobot with your messaging platform. It also enables team structuring so you can create another layer of security by obscruity. Overall, I am very glad to move some of my applications here as well. If the number of notifications are too frequent, there is option to reduce the frequency on options like e-mail, SMS, phone or to your usual chat channels.
